  1. ** MEMORY MATH v 1.5   Copyright 1996 Gary Bacon

  3. Memory Math v 1.5 is designed to help children in the 
  4. primary grades memorize the 0-9 math tables. Many of
  5. the math problems in any given quiz will be easier
  6. than the level chosen. The problems are selected at
  7. random up to the specified level. The idea is that
  8. it be a positive experience, (answering more questions
  9. correctly than incorrectly); and that it is fun. If
  10. it is enjoyable, they will do it, and if they do it
  11. often, they will learn the math tables.

  14. ** System Requirements:
  15. An IBM compatible PC or better
  16. MSDOS 3.x or higher  ( will run in WINDOWS 3.1 )
  17. Color Monitor, CGA or better
  18.  
  19.  
  20. ** Printing:
  21. You will notice, that when you print out division problems
  22. that the regular division ( ÷ ) symbol is replaced by the
  23. slash ( / ) symbol, this is because many printers do not
  24. correctly print ascii characters such as ( ÷ ). So the
  25. ( / ) is used instead.

  28. ** Running Memory Math from a floppy:
  29. Memory Math will run from a floppy. BUT Memory Math MUST be
  30. able to write (save) to files it creates on the disk, so the
  31. write protection on the disk MUST be turned OFF.
  32. To run the program, change to the prompt that reflects the 
  33. floppy drive you are using, and type:    MEM-MATH
  34.

  36. ** Hard Drive Installation:
  37. Unzip MEMATH15.ZIP to a temperary directory, run the INSTALL
  38. program from the DOS prompt to install Memory Math to your
  39. hard drive. The install program needs to be told the path to
  40. install Memory Math to. The proper way to do this is as 
  41. follows, at the DOS prompt type:        INSTALL C:\SPS-MM
  42.  
  43.  This would create a directory called SPS-MM on the "C" drive
  44. and copy all Memory Math files to it. SPS-MM is the directory
  45. of choice but you can install Memory Math to any drive you 
  46. wish.
  47.  To install to the "D" drive what you would type, would look
  48. like this:         INSTALL D:\SPS-MM 
  49.  
  50.  To run the program from your hard drive, change to the 
  51. SPS-MM directory, and type:         MEM-MATH 
  52.

  54. ** Running Memory Math in WINDOWS 3.1:
  55. Memory Math is well behaved in WINDOWS 3.1 (thats how we use
  56. it at our house). Original icons (DUSTY.ICO & MEM-MATH.ICO)
  57. are included for for your use, as well as .BMPs (DUSTY.BMP &
  58. MEM-MATH.BMP) which can be used as a wallpaper.
  59.  To use the .BMPs:  Copy MEM-MATH.BMP to the WINDOWS directory,
  60. go to the Program Manager's Control Panel and choose desktop,
  61. MEM-MATH.BMP and DUSTY.BMP will be listed under wallpapers,
  62. select  it and choose tile; I hope you like bright colors.
  63. To setup an icon in WINDOWS 3.1 I will need to refer you to
  64. the WINDOWS Manual, it is not difficult to do, but following
  65. the Manual would be best.

  68. ** To UnInstall Memory Math:
  69. Can't imagine why anyone would want to do it.
  70. But should the need arise, just:
  71. 1.delete the icon in Program Manager (if installed)
  72. 2.delete the contents of the SPS-MM directory
  73.   and the directory its self
  74. 3.it's gone, but wouldn't you miss it?

  77. ** Shareware:
  78. Memory Math is shareware, that means, trying it out before you
  79. buy it, sharing it with a friend, and if after a reasonable
  80. amount of time (3-4 weeks), you decide to keep it, paying the
  81. author. When passing on Memory Math be sure to give the complete 
  82. MEMATH15.ZIP file. This program is shareware, it is not crippled.
  83. However, those registering Memory Math will recieve more.

  86.         The most current version of Memory Math (probably
  87.             more sounds, praise comments & animation)
  88.         The registration reminders are removed (of course)
  89.         The program on a floppy (format of you choice)
  90.                 Printed documentation
  91.         The Information screen will show your name as the
  92.             registered user.

  95. In the informational part of the program the price for Memory Math
  96. is said to be $10. But, I would like your input, so, if you will
  97. include a short paragraph telling what you like about Memory Math,
  98. or how it can be improved, you will be able to register it for $5.
  99. I can't promise to do everything that might be suggested, but with
  100. your input Memory Math will hopefully be a more useful tool.
